Dan! It’s been a while but there are a few “newish” bars that have opened on the peninsula. First place is “The Lodge” at 3/415 Darling Street, close to the Riverview. The wine list is extensive, varied and very well priced. They only opened before Christmas and fingers crossed it becomes a permanent fixture on the Balmain watering hole list – it was great.
Second place is in Rozelle, Darling st, close to the markets – think it’s called the Corner Bar. Actually a cafe but has a licence so perhaps worth checking out?
Hope you are well. See that you copped a few unfair comments in the Metro top 10 bars guide…so tell us your real list ;)
Cheers,
The Wine Connoisseur

That’s great – and it’s nice to hear from you! I’ll have to check out The Lodge soon (and thanks for the heads up)
As for the comments on my Metro/SMH feature … I actually haven’t been able to read them yet but I’m bracing myself for an avalanche of hate. But I’ll definitely have to do a Bar Zine list soon …

hi guys,
re Corner Bar …..check out todays Good Living review in the Herald. 4/5 star rating…
We are the first small Bar on the Balmain Peninsular…awesome cocktails and wines by the glass, strong craft beer selection. By day we also pump out heaps of Paul Bassett Espresso.
Come check it out ….very cool.
