Presumably because someone else was paying that room hire fee, which I can respect. We bought food and drink but didn't pay extra. I object to not ever being told that the room wouldn't be available either when we booked well in advance or when we confirmed the day or two before. They want a huge room hire of like $2500 for half the area!!!! Enormous. Other local places - The Bee Hive (Erskineville) want only $1k and they are really not committed to that!
