Doors open at 7pm and the cost is $100 – but Bar Zine readers can get tickets for just $85 (keep in mind this includes a three-course meal, unlimited alcohol for four hours (sparkling, wine and beer) as well as a three-hour set from The Ellipsis Swingers swing band). Email emma AT blossommedia.com.au and put Bar Zine in the subject line. People who purchase a Bar Zine discounted ticket also earn the right to dance with me at the party, provided they happen to be female, single (or have lazy, nonviolent boyfriends) and are under the age of 60.
The official party ends at midnight, but there’s an afterparty with live gypsy music at The Camelot Lounge up the road. One person will also win a $250 voucher to The Leopard Lounge as a lucky door prize.
By now the more savvy Bar Zine readers will have figured out that this is a shameless plug and not a bar review and they’d be right – Bar Zine is a media partner for the event, although I’m not entirely sure what that means. I’m hoping it at least allows me access through the front door.
But I digress.
